Beverly Hills faced a need to ensure all residents and businesses were fully informed about the important programs, services and benefits offered by the city and that it was using the most up-to-date and effective communications vehicles possible. It also wanted to ensure it was staffed at the right level, was providing the right training, and had the right mix to properly engage the public.
SAE conducted a variety of formal and informal research, from a telephone poll to online employee survey to focus groups and one-on-one interviews to gather a significant amount of information about the city’s current efforts and perceptions. From this research, a comprehensive strategic communications plan was prepared that included organizational and communications goals and objectives, as well as communications strategies, tactics, schedule, budget, staffing mix, etc.
Taking advantage of SAE’s extensive experience in and knowledge of the port industry, the Port of Long Beach asked us to prepare a strategic program designed to assist the Port of Long Beach Trade Development Division in marketing its programs and services to a variety of external and internal audiences. The Division is an essential element of Long Beach operations and is vital to retaining current customers and attracting new business. Elements of the Plan include:
Helping residents and business owners/employees understand the budget challenges facing the City of San Luis Obispo was a big challenge. We came aboard to help understand the city’s story and conduct one-on-one interviews and community research to help determine a comprehensive two-year program to generate regional understanding of both short-term and long-term challenges. Our highly successful program resulted the creation of a sense that the community was pulling together to set priorities and ultimately support non-traditional funding mechanisms.
